The therapist behind the screen

I know that choosing a therapist can feel like a big decision. While qualifications and experience matter, I believe the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. Finding someone you feel comfortable with can make all the difference.

So, beyond the qualifications and professional memberships, here's a little more about me.

I was born in Brazil and have lived in the UK for nearly 20 years. I work in both English and Portuguese and enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds and life experiences.

A few things you might not know about me:

•   I'm a summer person through and through, although I still can't help smiling when it snows.
•   The beach is my happy place and somewhere I go to recharge.
•   I love learning new skills and stepping outside my comfort zone. Over the years I've tried everything from kickboxing to more recently, tennis.
•   I'm an animal lover and share my home with a rescued cockapoo who brings plenty of joy (and occasionally a little chaos!).
•   I can usually find my way through a conversation in Spanish, although I'd describe it as more creative than fluent!

Like many people, I have experienced life's challenges and know what it feels like to seek support during difficult times. My own experience of therapy helped me understand the value of having a space where I could feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement.

My approach

I am an Integrative Counsellor and Psychosexual & Relationship Therapist. This means I draw from different therapeutic approaches and tailor my work to the unique needs of each individual or couple rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.

My style is warm, relational and collaborative. I aim to create a space where you feel safe enough to explore difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace. While I offer empathy, support and understanding, I may also gently challenge unhelpful patterns when it feels helpful to do so.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in Human Resources and as a Workplace Mediator. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the complexities of relationships, communication and human behaviour.

My professional experience includes working within an LGBTQIA+ charity, a rape crisis service and providing psychosexual therapy within the NHS. Today, I work with adults and couples experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational and sexual concerns.
